Why does Protect have silicones?
Though silicones have a bad rep throughout other products categories, they are the best of friends for those of us who style with direct heat.
Here’s how it works: Silicones are strong enough to withstand high temperatures while still allowing flex in the hairs. The silicone barrier helps prevent the direct heat you're working with from damaging your hair. Yes, cones literally take the heat for us! On top of that, silicone’s protective coating keeps moisture locked in…double win.
What temperature does Protect protect up to?
When applied properly, Protect has you covered up to 450° F.
How does it wash out of my hair?
You might have heard that heat protectants are difficult to wash our or that this requires harsh surfactants. FORM Clarify Shampoo was formulated without sulfates, parabens, or phthalates and is able to remove silicone products in just one thorough wash. Instead of harsh sulfates, we use a blend of highly effective, yet mild, surfactants for a gentle thorough cleanse.
Can I refresh my style with Multitask?
If you have thermally straightened your locks, you won’t be able to refresh your style with Multitask as it is a liquid formulation. You can reapply additional Protect as needed if you are refreshing your style with heat.
Do I need to use a heat protectant if I’m just blow drying?
Yes. If you are straightening with the blow dryer, be sure to thoroughly coat all strands with Protect first. If you are just using a bit of indirect heat to remove moisture from your hair, a smaller amount of Protect should suffice.
How does heat damage hair?
Great question! Without proper protection, thermal styling damages the cuticle layer and weakens the hair. When applied correctly, Protect Heat Serum provides a barrier to protect against this damage.
